Opportunities From: Salt+Light

Merry & Bright is a new community program benefitting Benton students for Christmas.  Kind community members will shop for counselor-approved applicants and drop off items at City Hall. Then on Sat, Dec 13th at FBC-Benton, parent/guardians of recipients will be invited to pick up the purchased items as well as additional donated goods and services. From the parking lot to registration and through the distribution area and back to the vehicles, holiday greeters will bring the cheer with warm hospitality and a willingness to help.

May involve lifting and carrying boxes or bags up to 15lbs or more as guests are helped back to their vehicle.

Then on Sat, Dec 13th at FBC-Benton, parent/guardians of recipients will be invited to pick up the purchased items as well as additional donated goods and services. From registration to departure, our administration volunteers will oversee alllllll the details to ensure guests are treated with dignity, gifts are matched with intended recipients, and issues are resolved gracefully.

Bilingual volunteers would be welcomed in this role.

Merry & Bright is a new community program benefitting Benton students for Christmas.  After school counselors approve applications for Benton School District students that are most deserving of some holiday cheer, shoppers will be mobilized to personally purchase gifts based on individual student’s submitted wish list, interests, and sizes. Runners will be helpful in the early stages of organizing items as they are dropped off at City Hall, checking the status of ”tags” at different community locations, and receiving donations from event sponsors. For the distribution event, runners will be needed to organize all items for efficient and effective pick-up by parent/guardian of recipients; organization could include times prior to and on Sat, Dec 13th. 

Some tasks will require lifting and carrying boxes or bags over 15lbs in weight. Great opportunity for youth needing service hours.

Individual donors and corporate supporters are invited to serve as sponsors for Merry & Bright. Indicating interest here will prompt a conversation in which you can pledge commitment for a financial gift, offer goods & services at the distribution event, promotion of the program, shopping for a # of students, and/or providing a # of volunteers for the event.
