- One of the local mission initiatives is to actively support households involved with adoption and foster care, and the adoption and foster support champion for FBC communicates with the placement parents (and biological parents as needed with permission), Department of Child & Family Services employees upon request, as well as support agencies and placement agencies in order to inform the church staff (and congregation) about how we might best support the parents AND kids in care. The adoption and foster support champion could attend agency meetings, regularly search for current needs through adoption/foster family social media posts and proactive check-ins, coordinate volunteer teams as needed, and help make deliveries. Two general principles for this initiative is that we place high priority on 1) family reunification and 2) holistic Gospel presentation. We want to see God’s restoration manifest in the hearts of individuals, the homes of families, and on the earth as it is in heaven.
- An adoption and foster support champion for FBC defers to church staff on decisions about expenditures, represents the church in public behavior, and demonstrates a growing awareness for various adoption and foster agencies.
