Description

  • A member of the bereavement committee is at the ready to prepare and/or serve food and offer heartfelt compassion to a person/family in grief. When the church staff is made aware of a church member’s recent loss and might benefit from care through food provisions, the bereavement committee chairperson is notified and she then rallies the committee to the task. Sometimes a home-cooked dish is requested. Sometimes a delivery is most appreciated. Sometimes a meal is hosted and served at the church house by committee members.

  • Just as life can be unpredictable, this role follows the flows of life, so bereavement tasks are as needed. For the benefit of the chairperson’s expectations, an annual commitment from committee members is most appreciated.
