Description

  • A groundskeeping and handyman worker offers time and skills towards projects involved with lawn care, gardening, construction/demolition, and facility maintenance. Project requests might come from church members or from the greater community; some project requests come by referral through an area partner and some requests are FOR the benefit of an area partner. The groundskeeping and handyman worker may be mobilized to make a site visit to assess a potential project, take measurements and estimate project expenses, defer to staff for project approval and budget allowance, coordinate a team of volunteers, and respectfully communicate with the party who requested the project.

  • A groundskeeping and handyman worker stands at the ready for specific needs and notices that might arise, but also, he/she may commit to a recurring practice like serving on Habitat’s “Tuesday Crew,” mowing the lawn for a church member, or giving attention to the flower beds at The CALL’s Resource Center.
