Are you good with a camera? How about a drone? Do you have a steady hand and a good eye for a shot?

This volunteer operates two robotic cameras that are controlled in the broadcast booth located below the Worship Center. In this position, you will lead worship through the lens of these cameras. You will use “pushes” and “pulls” along with static shots to help create a seamless video experience for our guests.

Volunteers are scheduled about once a month. Experience is preferred but not required. Responding to this opportunity here will get you in conversation with our Worship Media & Technology Director.

The Lighting Operator is responsible for executing the pre-programmed lighting cues. The ability to “feel” and anticipate the dynamics within the worship set and knowing the flow of the service are important.

Do you love to worship and leading other people to worship our Risen King? Do you ever sing the CORRECT lyrics to songs or find yourself correcting others who sing the wrong lyrics? Can you multi-task while listening to music? This could be your gig! 

The ProPresenter Operator is responsible for leading worship by presenting lyrics and graphics to those in the auditorium. You will be responsible for “firing” videos, graphics, and lyrics.

Volunteers are scheduled about once a month. Experience is preferred but not required. Responding to this opportunity here will get you in conversation with our Worship Media & Technology Director. 

Are you interested in working behind the scenes? Do you have any interest or experience in video broadcasts? Are you willing to learn a new skill and be a part of a fun team? That's us... the Media/Technology Team and we're looking for volunteers. 

The switcher operator is responsible for everything that is shown on our Livestream. Responsibilities will include listening to the Producer, transitioning between camera, graphics, and video playback sources, and execute necessary cues on the Switcher console. This position is important because it helps create a seamless, distraction-free worship experience for our online audience.

The Sound Board Operator is responsible for helping "dial in" the audio during rehearsal. Additional aspects desired from the volunteer include the ability to adapt during the service with precision, to communicate with the worship team, and to control monitoring for both the band and choir.

Volunteers are scheduled about once a month. Experience is preferred but not required. Responding to this opportunity here will get you in conversation with our Worship Media & Technology Director. 

Volunteers regularly visit local prisons/detention centers to provide personal support, offer guidance on things like anger management training, and most importantly, to share the Gospel through word and deed. Both men and women can make visits with this ministry.

Additional background check and approval may be required through the detention centers. This is just to indicate your interest so we can direct you to the right contact for next steps. 

The most helpful volunteers at this time would be willing to be at the center 4 hours/week routinely at the same day & time each week. The men who volunteer are expected to meet with any young man who comes in with his partner; ready to have spiritual conversation, prepared to share the gospel, and/or to lead one-on-one Bible study (discipleship).

The women will help with donated clothing and have spiritual conversations while forming relationships with young women. Sharing the gospel and leading one-on-one Bible studies is optional.

A Midweek Meal deliverer takes a “meal on wheels” to a “shut-in” contact associated with our church family. Each member of the delivery team is assigned a zone that might include 3-6 stops, and after picking up the prepared meal from the church house–approximately 3:00pm on Wednesdays–the deliverer will then drive to each location and leave the designated number of meals. Additional means of loving concern and conversation with each contact is an added bonus to all parties but not required each occasion. **Many of the Midweek Meal deliverers are also in the Sunshine Circle care group because many recipients of our Wednesday meal deliveries are also regular contacts for Sunshine Circle.

Midweek Meals are arranged for our “shut-ins” for about ¾ of the year. We understand that circumstances come up that might affect your availability to deliver, but a Wednesday Supper deliverer is expected to be available 3 out of 4 Wednesdays of the month and a commitment to at least a semester is most appreciated.

Each week, this position will check-in students as they enter and keep track of those who are not attending Wednesday night Kids.  Teachers will monitor student behavior and assist the director with small group activities.

The Kids Ministry of First Baptist Benton aims to walk with First-Fifth graders as they learn foundational Biblical truths and come to know more about the character of God. We prioritize discipleship through small groups and by encouraging/equipping families to support their children. Beyond personal spiritual growth, we aim to create an environment that fosters healthy friendships within our church family.

Merry & Bright is a new community program benefitting Benton students for Christmas.  Kind community members will shop for counselor-approved applicants and drop off items at City Hall. Then on Sat, Dec 13th at FBC-Benton, parent/guardians of recipients will be invited to pick up the purchased items as well as additional donated goods and services. From registration to departure, our administration volunteers will oversee alllllll the details to ensure guests are treated with dignity, gifts are matched with intended recipients, and issues are resolved gracefully.

Bilingual volunteers would be welcomed in this role.

Merry & Bright is a new community program benefitting Benton students for Christmas.  Kind community members will shop for counselor-approved applicants and drop off items at City Hall. Then on Sat, Dec 13th at FBC-Benton, parent/guardians of recipients will be invited to pick up the purchased items as well as additional donated goods and services. From the parking lot to registration and through the distribution area and back to the vehicles, holiday greeters will bring the cheer with warm hospitality and a willingness to help.

May involve lifting and carrying boxes or bags up to 15lbs or more as guests are helped back to their vehicle. 

Merry & Bright is a new community program benefitting Benton students for Christmas.  After school counselors approve applications for Benton School District students that are most deserving of some holiday cheer, shoppers will be mobilized to personally purchase gifts based on individual student’s submitted wish list, interests, and sizes. Runners will be helpful in the early stages of organizing items as they are dropped off at City Hall, checking the status of ”tags” at different community locations, and receiving donations from event sponsors. For the distribution event, runners will be needed to organize all items for efficient and effective pick-up by parent/guardian of recipients; organization could include times prior to and on Sat, Dec 13th. 

Some tasks will require lifting and carrying boxes or bags over 15lbs in weight. Great opportunity for youth needing service hours.

All the purchased items as well as additional donated goods and services will be distributed to recipients’ parent/guardian on Saturday, Dec 13th at FBC-Benton.

Indicating interest here will prompt a conversation in which you can pledge commitment for a financial gift, offer goods & services at the distribution event, promotion of the program, shopping for a # of students, and/or providing a # of volunteers for the event.

Student names will remain confidential and school counselors alone will match shopper’s assigned records with student names. Shoppers will be given guidance on recommended spending limits as well as how and when to drop off purchased items at Benton City Hall.

Since the shopping can be done at your convenience between the time applications are approved and when purchased items are to be dropped off, this is a great opportunity for persons of all ages, for families as a shared activity and lesson in generosity, clubs and coworkers as an alternative team-building activity, and more. If you are without transportation or unable to otherwise deliver purchased items to Benton, we would also be able to accommodate some online shoppers wanting to volunteer.

The Verge Ministry is a strategically specific ministry within the student ministry dedicated to equipping and empowering middle school-aged students and their families to follow Jesus wholeheartedly at school, on a team, and at home. Because we understand how important these young adolescent years are, we’ve placed a special emphasis on this age group at First Baptist Benton. Our young students need mentors they can trust, Christian friends they can count on, and leaders who will teach them the life-changing Gospel. The Verge is a community of students and leaders who come from all walks of life to become transformed by God’s Word. We’re awkward, full of energy, and passionate about becoming more like Jesus!

A Verge Life Group leader is a person committed to a year of discipleship with a small group of kids. They are the ones who faithfully and consistently show up each Sunday morning to lead the LifeGroup in bible study and commit to engaging them outside the walls of the church throughout the year.

The UpperRoom Student Ministry is just one emphasis of the greater First Benton Student Ministry. The UpperRoom is for 8-12th grade students of all backgrounds in Central Arkansas. Our primary goal is to move a student from wherever they are in their walk with the Lord to a committed relationship with God. Our strategy to accomplish this is found in these three words; know, love, transform. God knows us, loves us, and seeks to transform us. As a result, we can know God, love God, and be part of the transformation process with God. We believe that when this takes place, the inevitable happens; we genuinely know others, love others, and transform our world.

A Special Friends Life Group Leader is a person who is committed to a year of teaching preschoolers & elementary students with disabilities about Jesus every Sunday morning. Special Friends ministers to Preschool & elementary students focusing on the unique strengths of each individual to allow for spiritual growth so that they may come to know Jesus Christ. The Special Friends Life Group Leaders will offer support whether it be physical, intellectual, behavioral, or emotional. The Special Friends Ministry class and activities are designed to cultivate a student’s desire for a Savior and to develop his or her faith.

A Worship Care volunteer is a person who is committed to a year of serving and serves during the worship service every four to six weeks on a rotation. Worship Care volunteers help focus on spiritual, relational, physical, and mental needs of the child. The Worship Care volunteers will help gather the preschooler's belongings, art work and take-home page when getting picked up.  

A Preschool LifeGroup Leader is a person who is committed to a year of teaching preschoolers about Jesus every Sunday morning. For newborns, crawlers, and walkers, they will stay in their classroom and have snack time, play time, and a buggy ride. They will be sung to and prayed over by our MidWeek leaders. For two year olds through Kindergartners, they will rotate by having play time, snack time, craft time, and story time. Each month we walk through a new series with our preschoolers with a theme, bottom line, and memory verse that we want to help make it stick as they understand that God made them, God loves them, and that Jesus wants to be their friend forever.

Preschool MidWeek leaders are the people who lead our groups of preschoolers. For newborns, crawlers, and walkers, they will stay in their classroom and have snack time, play time, and a buggy ride. Each group has multiple leaders who help share the leadership and teaching duties. A minister will provide you with lesson resources and teaching aids to help you prepare for class. Each Sunday morning, one Life Group leader will teach the lesson, and every leader will help welcome members and guests into the Life Group time. Life Group leaders will also delegate, assist, and encourage other supporting class leaders (Fellowship Planner, In-reach/Outreach, and Serve Leaders) to create opportunities outside of Sunday morning, where group members can grow together outside the walls of the church.                  

We come together every Sunday morning in Life Groups to engage in community with others in similar life stages--for Crossover, that's adults from college-age years to empty nesters. The relationships fostered by Life Groups include the weekly meeting time but are intended to extend well past Sunday mornings.

A Crossover Life Group Fellowship Planner is someone gifted with organization and administration that desires to support the Life Group Leader in thinking creatively about how to connect the group outside of Sunday mornings. The planner dreams the idea and coordinates the execution of fellowship events.

Under guidance from ministry staff, Life Group leaders delegate, assist, and encourage other supporting class leaders (Fellowship Planner, In-reach/Outreach, and Serve Leaders) to create opportunities outside of Sunday morning, where group members can grow together outside the walls of the church.                  

We come together every Sunday morning in Life Groups to engage in community with others in similar life stages--for Crossover, that's adults from college-age years to empty nesters. The relationships fostered by Life Groups include the weekly meeting time but are intended to extend well past Sunday mornings.

A Crossover Life Group Service Coordinator who likes to help organize Life Group members for our designated Serve Days and will recognize and suggest other ministry / mission opportunities throughout the year. This person coordinates with ministry staff and local partners as we seek to make a difference right here in Saline County!  

Under guidance from ministry staff, Life Group leaders delegate, assist, and encourage other supporting class leaders (Fellowship Planner, In-reach/Out-reach, and Serve Leaders) to create opportunities outside of Sunday morning, where group members can grow together outside the walls of the church.                  

We come together every Sunday morning in Life Groups to engage in community with others in similar life stages--for Crossover, that's adults from college-age years to empty nesters. The relationships fostered by Life Groups include the weekly meeting time but are intended to extend well past Sunday mornings.

Our Crossover Out-reach/In-reach Leaders welcome new visitors, review the weekly attendance reports, and make contact to group members to encourage others in faith. From the parking lot to the Crossover Cafe and to the pews, the Out-reach/In-reach leaders help others find a group connection, and they also work on cultivating that relationship connection among members of a Life Group.

Under guidance from ministry staff, Life Group leaders delegate, assist, and encourage other supporting class leaders (Fellowship Planner, In-reach/Out-reach, and Serve Leaders) to create opportunities outside of Sunday morning, where group members can grow together outside the walls of the church.

The Upper Room Ministry has frequent “special events” throughout the year that support the overall mission of the ministry and discipleship path of a student. These events include our Fall Retreat, Reality Weekend, Summer Missions, Semester Fellowships, and more. Responsibilities for special events vary from relationship building, chaperoning, providing transportation, serving meals, and other volunteer tasks.

Get a front row seat to concerts and conferences as you work alongside the Communications & Operations Director to provide hospitality to campus guests.  Positions include but are not limited to ushering, selling merchandise & tickets, scanning tickets, runners, etc.

Our Special Events volunteers are one of the most needed groups of people! Organizing an evening, weekend, or full week with over 100 kids really does take a village. As far as specific events, we have several consistent events that we provide for our kids each year - Kids camp and Zapped (VBS) in the summer, Fall Retreat and a Christmas story in the fall, and Preteen Weekend and an Easter story in the spring. There will be some other smaller events throughout each semester as well. Our volunteers at these events help in a variety of ways, but all are oriented around loving our kids and pointing them to Christ. 

The Verge has many special events in its ministry strategy that help to build community, foster faith, and encourage discipleship. Examples include Fall Retreat, summer camp, Mission Arlington, and Reality Weekend. You would be a part of those by attending and carrying out the vision for each event.

The Kids Ministry Welcome Team is made up of leaders who greet families, introduce guests, and keep our space watched over during ministry programming. They are an essential part of our ministry running well. 

Volunteers come alongside paid employees and the store manager to welcome customers, receive donations, sort products, and tidy the store. 

All acceptable donations to a ReStore location are repurposed into the same affiliate's store(s), and all proceeds from sales at Habitat ReStore go into the affiliate's operating budget to build houses in that community. With that being the case, in addition to providing gainful employment to some, Habitat thrives on the generous volunteer hours in the ReStore just as much as the build sites.

Committee work is like the framing that goes up on a new construction; it may be covered up later with things more noticeable like sheetrock and paint and adornments, but all the noticeable things are made possible because the framing is plumb. Volunteers serve on various committees to support the Executive Director in executing the mission of Habitat. Committees include Building, Church Relations, Development, Family Selection & Support, ReStore, and Finance. Each committee has its own rhythm and routine for meeting times and frequency, and though unforeseen circumstances certainly can affect your availability, your consistent attendance and involvement is most helpful.

A group of volunteers and our Construction Supervisor take on assorted tasks at the current build sites. Tools and prior training are not required as our team comes equipped and ready to teach others.

The Clothing Closet receives, sorts, and organizes donations for foster/adoption families. A Care Closet volunteer can take a shift or a day at a time; typical hours for the care closet are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am-3:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00-10:00am or by appointment. Volunteering in the Closet might include some interaction with staff members from The CALL and/or the Department of Child & Family Services as well as with families (foster/adoptive and biological alike).

The Prayer team receives confidential prayer requests and praises weekly from staff members of The CALL (Saline/Perry), foster/adoptive families, and occasionally from the Department of Child & Family Services. Confidentiality is respected with the use of initials in place of full names, and these prayers/praises are not to be publicly shared, please. Volunteering on the prayer team might occasionally include an in-person training event, the invitation to pray over a family training, and prayer-walking events.

A Worship Care Volunteer for the Special Friends Ministry is a person who is committed to a year of serving and serves during the worship service once a month on a rotation. Special Friends ministers to Preschool & elementary students focusing on the unique strengths of each individual to allow for spiritual growth so that they may come to know Jesus Christ. The Special Friends Ministry class and activities are designed to cultivate a student’s desire for a Savior and to develop his or her faith.

With trips to different places and different partners, the details of each GO trip will be unique. One consistent thing will be our precautions towards safety, so when an individual registers to participate in a trip, he/she will need to have an up-to-date background check.

SWA goal is to teach students how to use their musical gifts and talents to worship God. Teachers should have strong musical expertise, communication skills and a passion for teaching. Currently receiving interest from instructors who want to teach students of all ages and skill levels how to play the piano.

The Midweek Meal clean-up crew comes behind our family dinner on Wednesday nights to help re-set the room for the next function. Some basic clean-up can occur between the meal time (5:00-5:45pm) and the event that follows in Selph Hall--has been a Women's group at 6pm. Additional clean-up and furniture re-arrangement might take place at 7:00pm. Trays, plates, and utensils can be taken to the tray return next to the kitchen, paper table covers can be removed and discarded, any printed paper materials can be gathered and stacked to the side, and tables/chairs can be arranged as requested. Additional means of loving concern and conversation with church members and guests is an added bonus to all parties.

Midweek Meals are arranged on Wednesday nights for about ¾ of the year. We understand that circumstances come up that might affect your availability to clean and re-set the room, and any assistance is much appreciated.

The Sunshine Circle group is a collection of men and women that extend care to church members who are relatively bound to their residence. At their leisure, they use their compassion to make personal contact with a portion of the full list, and then a monthly meeting is an occasion to share reports with ministerial staff and other Sunshine members. **Many in the Sunshine Circle are also Wednesday Supper deliverers as their regular contacts are also recipients of our Wednesday meal deliveries.

A member of the Sunshine Circle is expected to attend monthly meetings and to prudently make contact with apportioned church members.

A Midweek Meal food service worker helps our Director of Food Services prepare and serve the weekly supper on Wednesdays. Some workers are needed early in the day on Wednesdays, but primarily the ongoing volunteer opportunity is in the kitchen on Wednesdays from 4:45-5:45pm on the serving line. No culinary expertise required, just a good worker with a calm demeanor and a kind heart. Additional means of hospitality to members and guests is an added bonus to all parties.

Midweek Meals are arranged for Wednesday nights about ¾ of the year. We understand that circumstances come up that might affect your availability to serve, and timely communication to find a replacement is much appreciated.

Do you have a desire for women to feel connected and to belong? Do you agree that creating spaces for intentional encouragement and relational building is important as the church trains and teaches women to grow in their faith?

The Fall Event Team is an opportunity to serve the women of our church and help provide input, creativity, and prayer into building an event that would bring the women of the church together. This job is hands-on and will work with a team of six to build the event from ground up.

Do you have a desire for women to feel connected and to belong? Do you agree that creating spaces for intentional encouragement and relational building is important as the church trains and teaches women to grow in their faith?

The Fall Event Team is an opportunity to serve the women of our church and help provide input, creativity, and prayer into building an event that would bring the women of the church together. This job is hands-on and will work with a team of six to build the event from ground up.

A member of the Worship Choir desires to worship the Lord with their whole heart. We hope people will see Jesus in us as we honor and proclaim the greatness of our God on Sundays in worship. We value a heart of worship far beyond musical ability/talent. We only ask that you bring an offering of praise regardless of how well you think you sing. A Worship Choir member is committed to rehearsing weekly on Wednesday nights and singing in the choir loft weekly on Sunday mornings.

You, your household, or your Life Group can “foster” a missionary or a church planter through prudent contact and support. Like a foster child might move under the care of another, missionaries and church planters might benefit from support of another person/household/group in the future, but for the time being, he/she is “yours” to support. Your support might include recurring points of contact, update and advocacy with church staff and congregation, acknowledgement of birthdays and important dates, fervent intercessory prayer, and consideration of means of financial/tangible support. 

A person/group who “fosters” a missionary or church planter is expected to be in communication with the contact and the church staff at least quarterly. A commitment to the role for at least a year is requested.
